How to use this map

Click a bubble
Each bubble is one of 72 story themes. Click it to see a picture and a description of the theme here. Open Raw Variations to read the actual motifs grouped into it.

Pivot with the filters
Choose one or more Time Periods or Geographies on the left. The map instantly recalculates using only those stories, so you can compare eras, regions or Western vs non-Western.

Read the result
Bubble size is how many motifs fall in that theme. Red means the theme is over-represented in your selection, blue under-represented, compared with all stories. Use Labels to show or hide names and Reset All to start again.
